I'm so excited...it's vacation time! My hubby & I are celebrating our wedding anniversary & we're going to spend it @ Tapawingo...where we got married many moons ago! Beautiful & enchanting Camp Tapawingo...hand~built over the course of 40+ years by the late Rev. Mac & Margo Fish & of intricate twig & stone construction. Made up of numerous out~buildings, each separate with a singular function, yet all connected by either a moss covered, stone pathway or a winding, wooden bridge. Located on Lake Placid, in the NY Adirondacks, Tapawingo is a very special, magical place, & i know you'd love it there!
My husband orchestrated our wedding, consisting of 35 close family members & friends. No rehearsals, no alternative plans...should Mother Nature grace us with a downpour...and did she ever...a torrential downpour all throughout the night, before...but on the morning of my wedding day I awoke to the bluest sky & brightest sunshine ever imaginable. Created, envisioned, arranged, designed & scored by my one & only...it was a day, a dream to remember.
Unbeknownst to our guests, when the celebration began, my husband ushered everyone across a wooden bridge, past the hand~built family chapel & down to the boat dock. With everyone mingling at the water's edge, off in the distance the sound of a bagpiper...notes on thin air...an Irish Wedding song...could be heard. As all our guests looked out into the distance, in the direction of the bagpipe music, across the lake & glistening in the sunlight...they could see the sight of a guideboat...the oars moving up & down, one by one to the rhythm of the piper's song...and a beautiful bride~to~be, with a garland of wildflowers resting upon her head, 7 strands of pearls wrapped around her neck, sat smiling, peacefully, joyfully...plying...plying to the shore...to her husband~to~be, to the chapel @ Tapawingo...i do...we did...and we continue to do so...
And now, we are off...to celebrate...August 21st...in the great north country!
I will return in a weeks time with lots of photos! I will be drinking lots of tea & taking lots of photos...photos of Tapawingo & more...for you to see!
Thank you for reading, thank you for viewing & most importantly, thank you for supporting me day or night, cup or pot, photo or poem, in silliness & in seriousness, in all that ~i do~ because...YOU all inspire me! Have a GREAT week friends! See you soon!

ReplyDeleteNancy,So lovely to meet you and your husband at Tapawingo this weekend. Before we caught the train back to NYC yesterday, Margo took us yard sale hopping and to a lakeside lunch in Westport. She is so delightful that we're sad to not be there today. As promised, here is the Times article: http://www.nytimes.com/1986/08/07/garden/a-summer-place.html
